In blackjack, a natural refers to the best possible hand that a player can be dealt at the start of the game, consisting of an ace and a ten-point card (which can be a 10, Jack, Queen, or King). This combination totals 21 and is often called a “blackjack.”
If a player is dealt a natural, they typically win the round immediately unless the dealer also has a natural. In that case, the hand results in a tie (or push), and bets are returned without any payout.
The standard payout for a natural is usually 3:2. For example, if a player bets $10 and is dealt a natural, they would receive $15 in winnings plus their original bet back. However, some casinos may offer lower payouts such as 6:5, which increases the house edge.
A natural is considered the strongest hand in blackjack because it beats any other hand totaling 21 that consists of more than two cards.
